Seasonal (H3N2) Influenza Info

Updated 11/03/2009

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the AAP have both emphasized the importance of flu shots for the prevention of influenza. The influenza cases that we are now seeing are all most likely H1N1. It is not known when the seasonal flu will reach our area. Click here for more information about the different types of influenza viruses.

Most of the flu vaccines given to our patients are thimerosal free. (Click here for more information about thimerosal). If your child is 2 years of age or older and has no history of asthma/wheezing, they can receive FluMist (an inhaled, nasal vaccine) instead of a shot. You can click on the links below for more information about influenza and influenza vaccines. We will have some more seasonal flu clinics on November 10th, 11th and 13th. Please call our office for availability.
